NASCAR’s veteran drivers are disappearing too quickly

With so many NASCAR drivers riding off into the sunset so fast, which drivers are fans going to root for in the coming seasons?

Each week, I feel like a broken record because all I want to do is talk about what is happening to veteran drivers in NASCAR. I’m not sure if anyone is paying attention, but they are disappearing faster than the fans’ love/hate relationship with Kyle Busch.

Where are my old drivers?

When I ask where are my old NASCAR drivers, I don’t mean old like ‘old’ in that sense…well, depending on your definition of ‘old,’ the term can apply–but I’m talking about my veteran drivers. Where are they going, and why are they vanishing so quickly?

I cannot bear to see Matt Kenseth not racing next year if that ends up being the case. I wasn’t really a huge Jeff Gordon fan–let me say that up front, But I had to be okay with him leaving the sport. You can’t tell me anything about Tony Stewart, but I had to be okay with him leaving as well. I am not as crazed as some Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans are, but when it comes to Tony Stewart, he’s my guy.

When I first came to NASCAR, Stewart was the first driver I gravitated to. The thought of him retiring was huge. I understood, accepted it, and continued to root for some of my other favorite drivers. After all, the sport goes on, right?
