- Helio Castroneves must finish in 7th place (590 points) or lower
- Simon Pagenaud must finish in 4th place (590 points) or lower
With a 2nd place finish…
- Power will have 572 points
- Newgarden must not race (560 points)
- Dixon must not race (557 points)
- Castroneves must finish in 13th place (572 points) or lower — Power wins tiebreaker based on more wins in the 2017 season (3 to 1)
- Pagenaud must finish in 9th place (570 points) or lower
- Alexander Rossi must finish in 2nd place (556 points) or lower
With a 3rd place finish…
- Power will have 562 points
- Newgarden must not race (560 points)
- Dixon must not race (557 points)
