NASCAR: Five predictions for the Alabama 500 at Talladega
By Dustin Smith
Fifth prediction: This Sunday will provide fans with the closest finish in 2017
The 2017 race season has been another great season of racing. However, the one thing missing is the finish that is so close nobody knows who won; the finish where the TV analysts have to watch several replays to determine who the winner was. The closest finish so far in 2017 was, of course, at the same place the teams are racing this weekend.
At this point, the superspeedway races have been very exciting and have left viewers wanting more. In fact, Talladega’s 2017 spring race was the 46th closest finish in Cup Series history, and finishes of races at Talladega occupy 12 of the top 47 spots as far as the closest finishes go. This means fans should be expecting another great finish this weekend. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will also be licking his chops as the winner of the last two superspeedway races.
No matter who crosses the finish line first, be prepared to see one of the best finishes of 2017. Playoff drivers will be battling for the win to gain a berth into the Round of 8. Other teams also know Talladega might be their last shot at a win in 2017, making them even more hungry for the checkered flag.
