While the 2017 IndyCar season is officially in the books, there is still some uncertainty regarding which drivers will be driving for which teams in 2018.

The 2017 IndyCar season has now been over for a month, and we are under five months away from the start of the 2018 campaign with the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.

While many of the open seats on next year’s grid have been filled, there are still a number a seats that are open.

Before we get into the open seats, let’s start out with what we already know, including what is about 99% certain for next year.

*=not 100% confirmed, but extremely likely

What we know

Harding Racing, Chevrolet

Ed Carpenter Racing, Chevrolet

AJ Foyt Enterprises, Chevrolet

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, Honda

Chip Ganassi Racing, Honda

Dale Coyne Racing, Honda

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, Honda

Team Penske, Chevrolet

Andretti Autosport, Honda

This means that only 17 drivers have secured full-time rides for next season. With the series projected to have at least 22 full-time entries next year, which drivers will land in which other open seats?
