Homestead-Miami Prediction #4 – The 2017 champion will be…

Although I did pick Kyle Busch to win the pole for Sunday’s championship race, he is not my pick to win the championship. In early September at Beyond the Flag, we made our picks on who we thought would be the champion at the end of the season. Fortunately, my pick is still alive headed to Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Even though it has seemed like the year for Martin Truex Jr., I still feel like Kevin Harvick is the man to beat on Sunday. Harvick didn’t earn the nickname “the Closer” by not coming in clutch when it is all said and done. Of the four drivers remaining, Harvick has been the least talked about. The 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion will be the last man standing this weekend, earning his second championship.

Sure, the fact that it comes down to one race makes it even more difficult to determine a winner, but his team has made very few mistakes throughout these playoffs. Kyle Busch has had pit road trouble, Martin Truex Jr.’s fiery hot season is starting to fizzle out and Brad Keselowski is only in because Denny Hamlin wrecked last weekend.
