The 2017 IndyCar season is officially in the books. Here are way-too-early team power rankings for the 2018 season, which is set to start next March.

With all 17 races on the schedule competed, the 2017 IndyCar season officially ended in September, which means that even though we have until March before the 2018 season starts, it’s time to start looking forward at next year.

As far as teams go, Team Penske dominated the 2017 season, winning 10 of the 17 races. The seven races that the team did not win were won by the five Honda teams, with each of the full-time Honda teams winning at least one race. Team Penske was the only Chevrolet team with a win this past season.

With the aero kit era having coming to an end after three years when the 2017 season ended, Chevrolet, particularly Team Penske, may lose their advantage next season that they were able to derive from the aero kits over the past few years, especially on the road courses, street courses and short ovals. How will this affect the complexion of the 2018 championship?

Here are way-too-early team power rankings in preparation for the 2018 IndyCar season.

NOTE: Some of the teams in these rankings may not end up being in the series full-time next season, and some teams that may end up as full-time teams next season may not be included in these rankings.
