The start of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season is now just right around the corner. Which drivers top the preseason power rankings?

The 2018 Daytona 500, which is set to kick of the NASCAR Cup Series season in a very short time, is rapidly approaching, meaning that nine straight months of racing are nearly upon us as the offseason comes to an end. Which Cup Series drivers enter the year atop the power rankings?

Last season, Martin Truex Jr. of Furniture Row Racing dominated in his #78 Toyota en route to winning his first career championship in the sport. He led all drivers with eight victories, while no one else won more than five races. He alone nearly totaled the win totals of all of the Chevrolet drivers (10) and all of the Ford drivers (also 10). Will he dominate the sport again in 2018?

Kyle Busch, also a Toyota driver, won five races, while Kyle Larson, a Chevrolet driver, won four races. Chevrolet’s top driver in the final championship standings, Chase Elliott, actually didn’t even win a race. Ford, like Toyota, had two drivers in the Championship 4.

The early focus should be on the Chevrolet drivers as a result of the fact that the new Chevrolet Camaro is set to released. But will that play a huge role in determining the outcome of the championship battle?

Here are the preseason driver power rankings for the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season.
