The Formula E race at Monaco in the 2018-2019 season is set to take place on the full version of the Circuit de Monaco used by Formula One.

The fourth annual Formula E season, the 2017-2018 season, is currently in progress, as five of the season’s 12 races are complete, with the Mexico City ePrix, which was won by Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler’s Daniel Abt, having been completed today.

A recent announcement was made that the 2018-2019 Formula E season would see a major change from recent seasons.

In the sport’s inaugural season, the 2014-2015 season, the Monaco ePrix was the seventh of 11 races on the schedule, and it was held on Saturday, May 9th, 2015, a date that was just two weeks and one day before Formula One’s heralded Monaco Grand Prix on the same streets.

However, the track layout of the Circuit de Monaco used by Formula One was shortened for the Formula E race. This particular track layout did not use the hill, Casino square, the hairpin, the tunnel or the chicane.

The race did not return to the schedule in the 2015-2016 season, but it did make a return in the 2016-2017 season on the same weekend that it was held in the sport’s inaugural season, and it returned on the same track layout as well. However, just like in the 2015-2016 season, the race did not make a return to the schedule in the 2017-2018 season, so the series will not be visiting the venue this season.

Beginning in the 2018-2019 Formula E season, however, the is set to return to the schedule, and the full Circuit de Monaco is set to be used for the Monaco ePrix, which is a move that many Formula E drivers wanted to see take place. Therefore, the Monaco ePrix will be held on the same exact 19-turn, 2.074-mile track that the Monaco Grand Prix is held on every Formula One season.

After yet another season of being left off the schedule, the Monaco ePrix is set to return to the Formula E calendar in the 2018-2019 season, and it is set to return on the date that it has used in years past. The race, which is set to be held on the full Circuit de Monaco, is set to be held two weeks and one day before Formula One’s Monaco Grand Prix on Saturday, May 11th, 2019.
