IndyCar: Driver Road and Street Course Power Rankings after 2018 Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama
By Asher Fair
Three different drivers have won the three road or street course races so far in the 2018 IndyCar season. How do all 21 of the road and street course drivers stack up against one another?
By winning the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, the fourth race of the 17-race 2018 IndyCar season, at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden joined the list of drivers who have won a road or street course race this season.
Newgarden became the third different winner in three road or street course races so far this season when he crossed the finish line in his #1 Chevrolet at Barber.
He joined Dale Coyne Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais, who won the season opener on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida, and he joined Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi, who won on the streets of Long Beach, California.
The fact that three different drivers have won one race in the first three road or street course races of the 2018 season speaks to the parity in the sport and just how tight things are in general following the introduction of the new universal aero kit.
