Which five Formula 1 drivers should consider coming across the pond to the United States to race in the Indianapolis 500?

Two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso made international headlines last April when he announced that he would be forgoing an attempt to compete for McLaren in the 2017 Monaco Grand Prix, the signature event on the Formula 1 calendar, to compete for Andretti Autosport in the Indianapolis 500 despite the fact that he had never driven in an IndyCar race before.

However, it hasn’t just been Alonso who has made the switch from Formula 1 to IndyCar to drive in the Indy 500. In fact, the past three winners of the Indy 500 have all been former Formula 1 drivers.

Juan Pablo Montoya drove in Formula 1 from the 2001 season to the 2006 season after winning the Indy 500 in his first attempt in 2000. He returned to IndyCar in the 2014 season and went on to win the Indy 500 for the second time in three attempts in 2015.

Alexander Rossi drove in five races in the 2015 Formula 1 season. In fact, there have not been any American drivers who have driven in Formula 1 since Rossi made his final Formula 1 start toward the end of the 2015 season. In the 2016 season, he came to IndyCar and won the Indy 500 in his first attempt.

Takuma Sato drove in Formula 1 from the 2002 season to the 2008 season before coming to IndyCar as a full-time driver in the 2010 season. He has stayed in IndyCar as a full-time driver since then, and he won the Indy 500 in his eighth attempt last year.

Here are five Formula 1 drivers who should consider driving in the Indy 500.
