#2 – New winner streak ends

Sonoma Raceway always provides a unique experience on the Cup Series schedule. Being the first road course on the schedule, the 10-turn monster has offered a variety of winners over the last decade. In fact, Sonoma has crowned nine different winners in the last nine seasons.

The only driver that has won multiple races in the last 10 years is Kyle Busch, who scored victories in 2008 and 2015. Since then, we’ve seen the likes of Kasey Kahne, Clint Bowyer, Jimmie Johnson and others lift the coveted glass of wine in victory lane.

My prediction is that the new winner streak will come to an end Sunday. There are simply too many drivers on the table who could break this streak. Considering Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr. and Clint Bowyer all qualify to break said streak, it’s very likely that that streak will come to an end.

Overall, I’d love another new winner too, but with so many talented drivers who’ve won at Sonoma in the last nine years, it’s seems far-fetched to think that one of them won’t score another win at the track. As I predicted before, both Harvick and Busch will be up front, so it’s going to take a bold pit call or career-best performance to make this prediction unravel.
