Alfa Romeo Sauber, Ferrari

#9. . No. 9. Alfa Romeo Sauber, Ferrari. MARCUS ERICSSON

After failing to score a single point in both the 2016 and 2017 Formula 1 season, Marcus Ericsson has improved this season with two points-paying (top 10) finishes in the season’s first 10 races.

The 2018 season is the 27-year-old Swede’s fourth season as a driver for Sauber, so the fact that they have hung on to him for this long even though he scored zero points in two of his first three seasons driving for the team shows that they will likely not cut ties with him ahead of next season, especially given the progress that he has shown so far this year.

Alfa Romeo Sauber, Ferrari. ANTONIO GIOVINAZZI. #36. . No. 36

Scuderia Ferrari urged Alfa Romeo Sauber to sign both Charles Leclerc and Antonio Giovinazzi this season. They signed Leclerc, but not Giovinazzi. However, with the success that Leclerc has had, they may want to consider signing Giovinazzi, especially since there will likely be an open seat since Leclerc will likely be signed by a better team.

Giovinazzi currently test drives for Ferrari and Sauber, and he drove for Ferrari and Haas last season after driving in two Formula 1 races for Sauber as the replacement for the injured Pascal Wehrlein. He deserves a chance to drive full-time in Formula 1, and he may very well get it in the 2019 season.
