Formula 1: 2019 Silly Season driver lineup prediction
By Asher Fair
Renault Sport, Renault
Nico Hulkenberg is currently in his second Formula 1 season driving for Renault Sport, and the team have absolutely no reason not to re-sign him given the season that he has had so far. He is having a career season so far, as he has finished seven of the season’s 10 races that have been held so far in 2019, and he has finished all of them in the top nine.
In fact, the 30-year-old German has finished three of those races in the top six, meaning he has beaten at least one of the six drivers who drive for the sport’s top three teams on a semi-regular basis. Expect him back at Renault in the 2019 season.
Current Sahara Force India driver Esteban Ocon is a Mercedes junior driver, but with Mercedes eager to get Mercedes junior driver George Russell into Formula 1 and likely as a driver for Force India, they may need to loan Ocon to Renault Sport.
This move may work out well for all parties involved, as Ocon is a talented driver who set the record for more races to start a Formula 1 career without a retirement last year driving for Force India and Renault have performed at a higher level than Force India so far this year. Mercedes would also get to evaluate two of their young potential superstars as opposed to just one.
