Chase Elliott

Chase Elliott has never won a NASCAR Cup Series race in 96 starts, but many people believed that the driver of the #9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet would change that early this season. While he can still change it at some point in 2018, the fact that he has not done so at this point has come as a surprise to a lot of people.

Elliott finished in fifth place in the Cup Series championship standings last season despite the fact that he did not win a race. In two of the three races in the round of 8 of the playoffs, he was just a handful of laps away from winning and locking himself into the Championship 4 with just one career victory.

Still, by finishing in fifth place in the championship standings, Elliott was the only driver without a victory who finished in the top 10.

Unfortunately for Elliott, Chevrolet teams and drivers have struggled as a whole this season with the new Camaros. The only win by a Chevrolet driver so far in 2018 is Austin Dillon’s Daytona 500 victory in his #3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet.

Even with the struggles of the Chevrolet teams and drivers, Elliott, who currently sits in 14th place in the championship standings, has come close to winning on several occasions. He finished in second in the race at Richmond Raceway, third in the races at ISM Raceway and Talladega Superspeedway and fourth in the race at Sonoma Raceway.

When will Elliott break through and get his career Cup Series victory? Will he do so this season?
