Denny Hamlin

It took Denny Hamlin until the 19th race of the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series season to win his first race of the year when he won the race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, so the fact that he has not won a race yet this year has not been super surprising.

However, despite the fact that he won just two races last year, Hamlin was in a good position to advance to the Championship 4 before he was taken out by Chase Elliott in the final race of the round of 8 of the playoffs at ISM Raceway as revenge for an incident that took place between the two drivers in the first race of the round of 8 at Martinsville Speedway.

The driver of the #11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota entered the season with momentum from last season, so the fact that he has not won any of the season’s first 19 races, which is something that he has not failed to do as a full-time driver since the 2009 season when he did not win a race until the season’s 21st race, is somewhat surprising.

This is especially surprising seeing how Joe Gibbs Racing have won six races this season with two of their drivers, Kyle Busch and Erik Jones, as well as the fact that they were the only team to have two drivers with multiple wins last year with Busch and Hamlin.

When will the driver who currently sits in ninth place in the championship standings become the third (or possibly the fourth depending on whether or not Daniel Suarez wins) Joe Gibbs Racing driver to win a race in the 2018 season?
