Kyle Larson

After winning four races last season and being one of the favorites to advance to the Championship 4 for the majority of the year, Kyle Larson had a disastrous round of 12 in the playoffs, which prevented him from even advancing to the round of 8.

However, this season, the driver of the #42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet entered as one of the favorites to advance to the Championship 4 once again, especially with Chevrolet teams and drivers using the new Camaros as opposed to the Super Sports (SS).

But Chevrolet teams and drivers have struggled mightily so far this season. Only Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon has been able to win a race behind the wheel of a Chevrolet car, and that race was the Daytona 500, a restrictor plate race.

However, while Chevrolet teams and drivers have struggled, Larson has still been fast to the point where it is shocking that he has not been able to win multiple races so far this year. He currently sits in eighth place in the championship standings with four second place finishes in the races at Auto Club Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Pocono Raceway and Chicagoland Speedway.

Larson also finished in third place in the race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and fourth in the race at Kansas Speedway. At Kansas, he started from the back and worked his way up to the lead before he was involved in a late accident, yet he still rallied to finish in fourth. When will he finally get his first win of the 2018 season and establish himself as a true championship contender?
