Kurt Busch

Kurt Busch has been having arguably his best season since the 2009 NASCAR Cup Series season or perhaps even the 2004 season during which he earned his first career Cup Series championship. However, his 2018 season has not included any victories, and he has gone without  a victory for exactly a season and a half.

Busch last won a race when he won the 2017 Daytona 500, as he has not won any of the 54 races that have been contested since then. However, the driver of the #41 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford has shown far more speed this season than he did throughout much of last season.

Busch has been fast this season, as have Stewart-Haas Racing as a whole as well as Team Penske, the other top Ford team. The fact that Busch has not been responsible for any of Stewart-Haas Racing’s seven victories or any of Ford’s eight victories so far in 2018 is quite surprising.

There was even a recent seven-race span during which Busch racked up two podium finishes and three top five finishes and he had just one finish outside of the top eight. He sits in seventh place in the championship standings with 10 top 10 finishes and just four finishes outside of the top 19.

When will Busch finally secure a playoff spot by earning his first victory in 2018 and his first victory since he won the 2017 Daytona 500?
