Conclusion

With three races remaining in the 2018 NASCAR Truck Series regular season, if any driver below the playoff cut line wins, they will clinch a playoff berth. Otherwise, the playoff field is most likely set.

More from Camping World Truck Series

Chase Briscoe could have raced in the 2018 Eldora Dirt Derby with the mindset of “checkers or wreckers.” After all, his deal with ThorSport Racing was only for that race, and he had a fast truck. Yet he raced clean. Yes, he raced hard, making contact with Grant Enfinger as they crossed the finish line.

But Briscoe did not wreck Enfinger. In his post-race interview, he admitted that he is aware that drivers such as Enfinger are racing for a playoff spot and ultimately a championship, so he did not want to ruin anyone’s night. That said, he still wanted to race for the win.

As Harry Hogge in Days of Thunder told us, “Rubbin, son, is racin’.” After the Cup Series race at Chicagoland Speedway, Kyle Busch told fans if they disliked that kind of racing, they should not watch.

While fans debated about his comment, all fans can agree the finish of the Eldora Dirt Derby was an instant classic. That adds to the popularity of the Truck Series racing at Eldora Speedway. In a future article, I plan to list five tracks that should be added to the Truck Series schedule. One of those tracks will be another dirt track.

The Truck Series returns to paved oval tracks for the rest of the season. Pocono Raceway is the site of the next race, the Gander Outdoors 150. The 60-lap race is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 28, and you can watch it on Fox Sports 1 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
