NASCAR: What’s wrong with NASCAR? Part 6 – The fans
Part 2: The haters
Okay, we’ve discussed the old schoolers, but now let’s address another dangerous category of fans: the haters. Some would like to put me in this category, but I want to emphasize the difference between critiquing the sport and completely bashing it.
To make matters worse, most haters continue to watch the sport while discrediting it at every turn. These are the fans who you will find trashing commentators, babbling about every rule or punishment NASCAR hands down and claiming the sport will be dead in 10 years.
Again, don’t misunderstand the blurred line of critique and hatred. Haters don’t care about helping the regrowth of the sport. Filled with bottomless opinions and mind-blowing accusations, fans that fall into this section throw the sport under the bus while continuing to ride on its coattails.
The point is that you can’t have your cake and eat it too. I’m the last person who wants to lose fans, but these are the folks who you want to leave if they can’t find any positives. If you’re reading this and feel like you belong here, please read another project I’ll be working on in a few months about “What’s right with NASCAR?”.
The worst I can do is get you to see some of the positives that the sport is currently experiencing. Overall, just don’t be a hater, because it’s tiring for the both of us.
