NASCAR: What’s wrong with NASCAR? Part 6 – The fans
Part 3: The quitters
So what could be worse than a hater? How about a quitter. These fans are the ones who have left or claim to be leaving the sport entirely. Usually these fans can take the form of a hater, but they essentially give up on NASCAR as a whole.
Often times, I ponder if anything could make me ditch the sport completely, and the results are usually the same: nothing. Who knows what could happen, but it sure would be difficult to give up a sport I’ve watched since 2002.
As for the fans who do fall into this placement, I wish you well and would love for you to come back, but please do so with an open mind. I understand that different cars, new rules and a completely different championship format will make some people uncomfortable, but true and blue NASCAR fans do their best to not walk away.
Think about it. Fans made it through the death of Dale Sr, the loss of Winston and the dismal Brian France years, so why give up now? The overarching point that I’m trying to make is if you’re going to cut all support to the sport, don’t complain about it, because you leaving isn’t helping either.
Either stick it out or go home; we don’t have time for both.
