The ex-wife of ex-NASCAR Cup Series driver Greg Biffle has been awarded $1 after Biffle was found guilty of invading her privacy.

Ex-NASCAR Cup Series driver Greg Biffle was found guilty of invading the privacy of his ex-wife Nicole by a jury. Biffle, 48, will be forced to pay his ex-wife $1 for secretly recording her in her bedroom and bathroom for two years. This is the case despite the fact that she reportedly sought $9 million in damages.

According to The Charlotte Observer, Biffle’s ex-wife claimed that she had “suffered loss of appetite, loss of sleep, pain in her abdomen, emotional distress, worry, humiliation, fear…and other anxiety-related conditions”, and her lawsuit claimed that her mother was even “prescribed a drug for anxiety and tension in January 2016 as a result of the stress from being filmed”.

She and her mother also claimed that Biffle showed the images of her from the hidden cameras to third parties.

But while the 19-time Cup Series race winner was found to have intruded “offensively on the privacy of his ex-wife”, the jury answered “no” to all other claims brought against him, including one in regard to whether or not these cameras caused emotional distress.

As a result, Biffle’s ex-wife will receive just 0.00001111111% of what she sought in damages.

Amy Simpson, Nicole Biffle’s lawyer, claimed victory in the case by stating that Greg Biffle’s actions “were found to be an unlawful invasion of privacy”, according to The Charlotte Observer.

In an e-mail, Simpson claimed that it had never been about the money for Nicole Biffle and that it had just been about holding Greg Biffle accountable for his actions. Here is what she stated in this e-mail, according to The Charlotte Observer.

"“[The case] has never been about money for Ms. Biffle. It’s been about holding Mr. Biffle accountable for the complete violation of her dignity and right to privacy that should be afforded all persons. And for that she’s proud of the verdict against him.”More from NASCAR Cup SeriesNASCAR Cup Series: New team set to compete in 2024NASCAR: Surprising name continuously linked to new seatNASCAR driver at risk of missing the Daytona 500?NASCAR set for rare appearance last seen 13 years agoNASCAR team adds third car, names driver for 2024 Daytona 500"

But while Simpson claimed this in this e-mail, here is what she also had to say in this e-mail, according to The Charlotte Observer.

"“The $1 in damages is perplexing given the gravity of Mr. Biffle’s actions and the lengths he went to invade her privacy. But that is the verdict.”"

Greg Biffle, throughout the course of the trial, which included 12 days of testimony, denied doing anything inappropriate and claimed that his wife knew that the cameras were in place.

Here is what Biffle, who legally separated from his wife in March of 2015, had to say about the matter, according to The Charlotte Observer.

"“What the jury said sends a loud message that they don’t believe there was wrongdoing.”"

Next Monday, there is a hearing schedule to consider punitive damages in this case.

Biffle retired from Cup Series competition following the 2016 season, which was his 15th overall season in the sport as well as his 14th overall season and 14th consecutive season as a full-time driver in the sport. In addition to his 19 career Cup Series victories, he recorded a career-high finish of second place in the championship standings in 2005 season.
