The backers of Sergio Perez, who is currently in his fifth season driving for Force India, are the people sent the team into administration to protect them against the threat of a winding-up order.

With the team having been purchased by a consortium led by Canadian billionaire investor Lawrence Stroll, the 28-year-old Mexican expects that he will sign a contract to remain with the team for the 2019 season and beyond, as he should given the actions of his backers as well as his performance for the team over the last five seasons.

Williams’ Lance Stroll has struggled in his second season as a Formula 1 driver after having success in his rookie season, but this is largely due to the fact that Williams are by far the slowest team in the sport, as evidenced by the fact that they sit in last place in the constructor standings with very little hope of moving up even one position over the course of the season’s final nine races.

However, the 19-year-old Canadian will likely be promoted to Force India, the mid-pack team that a consortium led by his father Lawrence just purchased, next season. His father spent $80 million to get him a ride with Williams last year, so there is really no doubt that the younger Stroll will be driving for Force India in 2019.
