NASCAR Truck Series Power Rankings after 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 250
By Mark Kristl
Justin Haley won the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 250. As a result, he is set to advance to the round of 6 of the NASCAR Truck Series playoffs.
Justin Haley emerged victorious in the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 250. Racing north of the border in Canada at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, the NASCAR Truck Series delivered an exciting race capped off with a thrilling last lap.
Haley’s second career Truck Series win guarantees him a berth in the round of 6 of this year’s Truck Series playoffs. In his victory lane interview, he unsurprisingly stated that he is glad to have won the first playoff race.
Haley knew that his #24 GMS Racing Chevrolet team struggled earlier this season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the site of the second round of 8 race, and races at Talladega Superspeedway are always wild, so he did not want to have to rely on good finishes at either one or both of those tracks to advance to the round of 6. This victory gets him one step closer to his first career NASCAR Truck Series championship.
Noah Gragson looked as though he would win the race, as he won the first two stages and arguably had the best truck. On the final lap, he chased teammate Todd Gilliland, who is seeking his first career Truck Series win.
As the two drivers raced on the final lap, Gilliland did not exit turn nine well. Gragson drove his truck hard to try to snatch the lead from the rookie, but this happened, catapulting Justin Haley into victory lane.
Gragson did not win and therefore did not clinch a round of 6 berth, and Gilliland has still not won a Truck Series race in his career.
With this win, Haley moves up in this week’s Truck Series driver power rankings. Because the Truck Series playoffs are underway, the top eight spots in the power rankings for the remainder of the season will be the eight playoff drivers.
Before you get to this week’s power rankings, here are the 20 drivers in the top 30 in the point standings who are not in them.
