Clint Bowyer – Jeremy Mayfield tribute

Okay, so there are obvious reasons why a Jeremy Mayfield tribute may not come around any time soon. That’s why this is a top 10 wish list.

Jeremy Mayfield grabbed five victories in his NASCAR Cup Series career. He was never a top contender but made a name for himself with consistent finishes.

Mayfield’s career highlight came in 2000 when he pushed Dale Earnhardt out of the way to score a victory at Pocono. The moment gave Mayfield a lot of respect for taking on “The Intimidator”.

Mayfield was able to score his way into the first two championship chases in 2004 and 2005. He etched his way into NASCAR history with performances like these.

Even more, Mayfield drove some great-looking cars in his day. Most notable is his 2000 Mobil 1 car. The plain white hood mixed with the dark blue body looks so great and it would be spectacular to see the Pegasus above the tire once again.

The Mobil 1 brand now sponsors Stewart-Haas Racing cars, so I do not see why they cannot reference a classic design. Any of the team’s drivers could race it, but I would give it to Clint Bowyer. You could also make a case that Ryan Blaney could drive the car since he drives the #12 car for Team Penkse like Mayfield did.
