Alex Bowman – Dale Jarrett tribute

We have already seen a couple of Dale Jarrett tributes in the past. His 1993 Daytona 500-winning car was honored by Kyle Busch and his 1999 championship car was honored by Aric Almirola. David Ragan is even running a paint scheme this year honoring Jarrett’s first career Cup Series victory in 1991.

While both of these cars are great, I think we are missing out on a huge opportunity. From 2001 to 2008, Jarrett piloted a UPS-sponsored car. The sponsor spawned a number of commercials in which fans urged him to drive the UPS truck. During his final race, the 2008 All-Star Race, he finally drove the truck, capping off an incredible career.

Jarrett was no slouch when he ran the UPS machine, either. In his first three years sporting the brown and white colors, he won seven races, and was in the championship hunt for most of the 2001 season.

Overall, the 1999 champion snagged 32 wins and numerous accolades in his career. He is enshrined in the NASCAR Hall of Fame and deserves all the tribute cars we can throw out there.

Alex Bowman’s easiest tribute would be to run a Dale Earnhardt Jr.-themed car, but I think a Dale Jarrett paint scheme should be the next step for him.
