With Daniel Suarez’s future at Joe Gibbs Racing being as uncertain as it is, who will the team sign as their fourth driver for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season?

When it was revealed that Furniture Row Racing, the team that have had a technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing since the start of the 2016 NASCAR Cup Series season, will be shutting down after the 2018 season comes to an end, a doubt was cast on the future of Daniel Suarez.

This was the case because of the fact that Furniture Row Racing driver and defending Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. was tipped to replace the 26-year-old Mexican behind the wheel of the #19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.

While this speculation was not confirmed, it confirmed the fact that Suarez has certainly not secured his seat at Joe Gibbs Racing for next season even though it was widely believed that he would return to the team next year.

This was the case despite the fact that in each of the last two seasons, Suarez is the only one of the four Joe Gibbs Racing drivers who failed to qualify for the playoff, as he has still demonstrated a lot of potential via several flashes of talent.

With the speculation involving Truex Jr. replacing Suarez next season still having not been confirmed, there are still several candidates who could drive the #19 Toyota in 2019. Who will Joe Gibbs Racing ultimately end up signing to be their fourth driver alongside Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Erik Jones next year? Here are three candidates.
