Who will replace Jamie McMurray behind the wheel of the #1 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet in the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season?

Last month, it was rumored that Jamie McMurray, who has driven full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series since the 2003 season, would not be returning to the series in 2019 as the driver of the #1 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet.

Before the 26th and final race of the 2018 regular season, the Big Machine Vodka 400, more commonly known as the Brickyard 400, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, these rumors were confirmed.

As a result, Chip Ganassi Racing are set to sign a driver to replace the 42-year-old Joplin, Missouri native behind the wheel of the #1 Chevrolet for the 2019 season. All but four of McMurray’s 16 seasons as a full-time driver have been spent driving for the team.

McMurray drove the #42 Chip Ganassi Racing Dodge from the 2003 season through the 2005 season before spending the next four seasons driving the #26 Roush Racing/Roush Fenway Racing Ford. He returned to Chip Ganassi Racing (Earnhardt Ganassi Racing at the time) in the 2010 season to drive the #1 Chevrolet, which he has driven ever since. He has not missed a single race since his full-time Cup Series career began back in 2003.

Who will end up being Kyle Larson’s teammate at Chip Ganassi Racing in the 2019 season? Here are five possible replacement candidates for McMurray.
