K&N Pro Series East and K&N Pro Series West (continued)

Two of those tracks, Iowa Speedway and Gateway Motorsports Park, also host NASCAR races. Both of those races are combination races for both K&N Pro Series divisions. Theoretically, those two tracks could also lose those race dates. My hypothesis is that the 2020 K&N Pro Series East schedule will consist of six to eight races, which is exactly what NASCAR seeks.

The 2018 K&N Pro Series West schedule consisted of 15 races. Both Tucson Speedway and Kern County Raceway Park hosted two races. If both of those tracks lose a race, there would only be 13 races. Because the K&N Pro Series drivers will compete against the ARCA Racing Series drivers in the Stock Car Invitational, the Las Vegas Motor Speedway dirt track race may be phased out.

Take away the two combination races, and the K&N Pro Series West drivers would only compete in 10 races. Sonoma Raceway hosts a Cup Series race, so that may also be taken off the schedule. Lastly, the 2018 race at Spokane County Raceway was cancelled and was not made up. NASCAR may not return there. With those changes, the 2020 schedule may feature the remaining eight race tracks.

With these changes to both K&N Pro Series schedules, NASCAR gives identities to them. Those two series will essentially be NASCAR-sanctioned short track series. At short tracks around the country, drivers’ ages varies from youngsters, such as the mandated 15-year old age requirement, to veteran drivers who like to race. That may encourage more local drivers to compete in some events, which could increase the car count at races.
