Final shoutouts

I want to shine the spotlight on three drivers who earned good finishes in the 2018 Fr8Auctions 250 at Talladega Superspeedway, of whom two earned career-high finishes in the race.

Before the weekend, Wendell Chavous announced that the race would be his last NASCAR race. He crossed the finish line first place; yay! However, under NASCAR overtime rules, Timothy Peters won because he was leading when the caution flag flew, instantly ending the race. Chavous ultimately finished in fifth. What a sendoff; his career-high finish. Best wishes to him in his future endeavors.

Jordan Anderson finished in ninth place in the season opener at Daytona International Speedway. In the Fr8Auctions 250, he gained 14 positions en route to his career-high finish of seventh. As the owner of Jordan Anderson Racing, he recognized the terrific race for both himself and crew chief Kevin Eagle.

More from Camping World Truck Series

As the owner of Jennifer Jo Cobb Racing, Jennifer Jo Cobb started her race weekend with disappointment when her #0 Chevrolet, driven by Ray Ciccarelli, failed to qualify for the race. Cobb herself has failed to qualify for two races this season.

The qualifying procedure for the Truck Series at restrictor plate tracks is single-lap qualifying, so the quality of equipment matters. Cobb qualified in 22nd place, which provided some initial redemption for her team.

During the race, Cobb stayed in the lead draft and finished the second stage in seventh place. Although four stage points doesn’t sound impressive, it’s a huge boost for her team. During the “Big One”, people took notice of her impressive run. Why wouldn’t they; she was the leader!

Yes, she faded back, but she finished the race on the lead lap in 11th place. It was a good race for her and an impressive performance for her team. Way to go!

The round of 6 is upon us, and the Truck Series travels from the high speeds of Talladega Superspeedway to short-track racing at the track affectionately referred to as “The Paperclip”, Martinsville Speedway. Will more underdogs earn good finishes? Which playoff drivers will step up in their hunt for the 2018 Truck Series championship? This upcoming weekend is the last off-weekend of the season.

Next. Coaches who would make great crew chiefs. dark

Following the last off-weekend of the 2018 NASCAR Truck Series season, the series is scheduled to returns to action at Martinsville Speedway, which is set to host the Texas Roadhouse 200. The race is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 27 at 1:00 p.m. ET. Fox Sports 1 is set to provide TV coverage.
