How have the four Championship 4 drivers fared against one another with 32 of the 33 races of the 2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series season in the books?

The 2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series season finale, the Ford EcoBoost 300, is scheduled to take place this Saturday, November 17. This race is the Championship 4 race. As such, this year’s champion is set to be determined in it.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell, Stewart-Haas Racing’s Cole Custer, Richard Childress Racing’s Daniel Hemric and JR Motorsports’ Tyler Reddick are the four drivers who are set to compete to win this year’s championship in the Ford EcoBoost 300.

Heading into the 200-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Homestead-Miami Speedway oval in Homestead, Florida, let’s take a look at how each of these four drivers have fared against one another so far this season since the highest finisher among them in this race will be crowned this year’s champion.

As far as the average finishes of each of these drivers are concerned, Hemric has the best through the season’s first 32 races. His average finish is 9.13 while Custer’s is 9.22, Bell’s is 11.06 and Reddick’s is 13.25.

Bell has earned seven victories so far this season while Reddick has earned one, Custer has earned one and Hemric hasn’t earned any.

But how has each driver fared against the other three?

When it comes to just these four drivers, Bell has finished higher than the other three in 15 of the 32 races that have been contested so far this season. Hemric has done so in eight while Custer has done so in six and Reddick has done so in three.

Custer has finished behind one of the other three drivers and ahead of the other two in 13 of the 32 races that have been contested so far this season. Hemric has done so in 11 while Bell and Reddick have each done so in four.

Reddick has finished behind two of the other three drivers and ahead of the other one in 13 of the 32 races that have been contested so far this season. Hemric and Custer have each done so in seven while Bell has done so in five.

Finally, Reddick has finished behind all three of the other drivers in 12 of the 32 races that have been contested so far this season. Bell has done so in eight while Custer and Hemric have each done so in six.

Among these four drivers, Bell has the best average finish when including only his results relative to the results of the other three drivers. His average finish is 2.19 while Hemric’s is 2.34, Custer’s is 2.41 and Reddick’s is 3.06.
