Formula 1: Way-too-early 2019 Driver Power Rankings

Lando Norris, who many people believe is a future Formula 1 champion, is set to make his debut in the sport driving for McLaren in the 2019 season. Several teams, including Toro Rosso, tried to lure the 19-year-old Briton from McLaren this past season, but McLaren blocked these deals from taking place. They believe that the 2017 Formula 3 European Championship champion and 2018 Formula 2 runner-up is a special talent, and the 2019 season should be a good indicator as to just how accurate they are.
Carlos Sainz Jr. had a solid first full season driving for Renault in 2018, but he is set to replace two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso at McLaren this season. McLaren have struggled in recent seasons, and their struggles were abundant throughout the final 16 races of the 2018 season. Driving for the Woking-based team may be challenging for the 24-year-old Spaniard, but his past experience of outperforming his equipment, especially when he drove for Toro Rosso in the 2017 season, many play to his advantage.
Sauber experienced a revival of sorts in the 2018 season, and Kimi Raikkonen is set to try to continue that by returning to the team with which he began his Formula 1 career back in the 2001 season. The driver who is set to replace him at Ferrari, Charles Leclerc, finished in 13th place in the driver standings as Sauber’s top driver in the 2018 season. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the 2007 Formula 1 champion finish there or around there in the standings in 2019.
