Formula E: Lucas di Grassi takes pole for 2019 Santiago ePrix

Lucas di Grassi took the pole position for the third race of the 2018-2019 Formula E season, the Santiago ePrix, at Parque O’Higgins Circuit.

Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler’s Lucas di Grassi took the pole position for the Santiago ePrix, which is the third race of the 13-race 2018-2019 Formula E season.

This pole position is di Grassi’s first pole position of the season. He is set to start the race on the front row in his #11 Spark-Audi alongside Nissan e.dams’ Sebastien Buemi, who qualified in second place in his #23 Spark-Nissan.

Di Grassi took the pole position for the 45-minute race around the 14-turn, 1.492-mile (2.401-kilometer) Parque O’Higgins Circuit in Santiago, Chile by recording a top lap time of 68.290 seconds (78.653 miles per hour) around the track in the Super Pole qualifying session.

Di Grassi’s fastest lap time of the Super Pole qualifying session was 0.526 seconds (0.601 miles per hour) quicker than that of Buemi, as his fastest lap time of the session was 68.816 seconds (78.052 miles per hour).

Mahindra Racing’s Pascal Wehrlein, Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler’s Daniel Abt and HWA Racelab’s Stoffel Vandoorne rounded out the top five by qualifying in third, fourth and fifth place in their #94 Spark-Mahindra, #66 Spark-Audi and #5 Spark-Venturi, respectively.

Envision Virgin Racing’s Sam Bird, Venturi’s Edoardo Mortara, Geox Dragon Racing’s Maximilian Gunther, BMW i Andretti Motorsport’s Antonio Felix da Costa and Venturi’s Felipe Massa rounded out the top 10 by qualifying in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #2 Spark-Audi, #48 Spark-Venturi, #6 Spark-Penske, #28 Spark-BMW and #19 Spark-Venturi, respectively.
