Seven drivers representing seven different teams have been victorious through the first seven races of the 2018-2019 Formula E season.

Just when you thought there could not possibly be any more parity in Formula E, more parity showed up in Formula E.

Through the first six races of the 2018-2019 Formula E season, six different drivers had earned one victory, something that had never happened in the sport’s five-year history dating back to the 2014-2015 season.

But even more notable was the fact that these six drivers all drive for different teams. BMW i Andretti Motorsport’s Antonio Felix da Costa, Mahindra Racing’s Jerome d’Ambrosio, Envision Virgin Racing’s Sam Bird, Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler’s Lucas di Grassi, Venturi’s Edoardo Mortara and DS Techeetah’s Jean-Eric Vergne had all won one of these six races.

Entering the season’s seventh race, the Rome ePrix, at Circuito Cittadino dell’EUR, five of the sport’s 11 teams had not yet been victorious, although there were several notable drivers who drive for these teams who had had success through the season’s first six races and could very well earn their first victory of the season in the near future.

One of these drivers, Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s Mitch Evans, had the second highest average finishing position among the sport’s full-time drivers through the season’s first six races, as his average finishing position was 7.00 and he had not yet finished a race outside of the top nine.

While Evans had not yet finished a race on the podium through the season’s first six races either, he appeared to be on the brink of breaking through.

That is exactly what the 24-year-old New Zealander did in the Rome ePrix. After starting in second place behind DS Techeetah’s Andre Lotterer, he made a move on the 37-year-old German late in the race to take the lead, and he never looked back en route to earning his first victory of the season and the first victory of his Formula E career.

As a result, with seven races down and six remaining on the 2018-2019 Formula E schedule, only four of the sport’s 11 teams have not yet won a race, as seven different drivers representing seven different teams have earned one victory so far this season.

There is literally no other racing series or sports league in the world with this level of parity, aside of maybe IndyCar.

The four teams that have not yet won a race this season are Nissan e.dams, HWA Racelab, NIO and Geox Dragon Racing. Nissan e.dams and HWA Racelab have shown solid pace throughout the season, but NIO and Geox Dragon Racing appear to be in a position where they essentially need a miracle to earn a victory this season.

Will this trend of different drivers representing different teams winning races continue into the eighth race of the 13-race 2018-2019 Formula E season? This race, the Paris ePrix, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 27 at Circuit des Invalides in Paris, France.
