Formula E: Mitch Evans wins 2019 Rome ePrix

Mitch Evans earned the first victory of the 2018-2019 Formula E season and of his Formula E career by winning the Rome ePrix at Circuito Cittadino dell’EUR.
Mitch Evans earned his first victory of the 2018-2019 Formula E season and of his Formula E career, and he delivered Panasonic Jaguar Racing their first victory of the season and their first ever victory in Formula E by winning the 13-race season’s seventh race, the Rome ePrix, at Circuito Cittadino dell’EUR.
Evans, who started the 29-lap race around the 21-turn, 1.77-mile (2.849-kilometer) Circuito Cittadino dell’EUR temporary street circuit in Rome, Italy in second place, won it by 0.979 seconds in his #20 Spark-Jaguar over DS Techeetah’s Andre Lotterer, who started from the pole position in his #36 Spark-DS Automobiles, in second.
By winning this race, Evans became the seventh different driver to win a race so far this season, and he made Panasonic Jaguar Racing the seventh different team to win a race so far this season, meaning no drivers or teams have won more than one race with more than half of the season in the books.

HWA Racelab’s Stoffel Vandoorne finished in a career-high third place in his #5 Spark-Venturi. Envision Virgin Racing’s Robin Frijns and Nissan e.dams’ Sebastien Buemi rounded out the top five by finishing in fourth and fifth in their #4 Spark-Audi and #23 Spark-Nissan, respectively.
Nissan e.dams’ Oliver Rowland, Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler’s Lucas di Grassi, Mahindra Racing’s Jerome d’Ambrosio, BMW i Andretti Motorsport’s Antonio Felix da Costa and Mahindra Racing’s Pascal Wehrlein rounded out the top 10 by finishing in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #22 Spark-Nissan, #11 Spark-Audi, #64 Spark-Mahindra, #28 Spark-BMW and #94 Spark-Mahindra, respectively.
The race featured one lead change among two drivers, as Evans passed Lotterer for the lead late in the race. The race featured a lengthy red flag period for a track blockage early in the race that resulted in a delay of nearly one hour. Of the 22 drivers who started the race, 19 finished it, and of the 19 drivers who finished it, 17 finished on the lead lap.
