Johnny Sauter earned his first victory of the 2019 NASCAR Truck Series season by winning the season’s sixth race, the JEGS 200, at Dover International Speedway.

For the first time since the 2019 season opener at Daytona International Speedway in mid-February, Kyle Busch did not compete in a NASCAR Truck Series race, and for the first time since the season opener, Kyle Busch did not win a Truck Series race.

Instead, it was GMS Racing’s Johnny Sauter who earned his first victory of the 2019 Truck Series season by winning the season’s sixth race, the JEGS 200, at Dover International Speedway from behind the wheel of his #13 Ford.

Sauter became just the second full-time Truck Series driver to win a race this season, as Hattori Racing Enterprises’ Austin Hill won the season opened before Busch went on to win the season’s second, third, fourth and fifth races.

Sauter’s victory in this 200-lap race around the four-turn, 1.0-mile (1.609-kilometer) high-banked Dover International Speedway oval in Dover, Delaware was his third consecutive victory at the track, as he also won the races that were contested there in the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

He won this race by 0.603 seconds over second place finisher Brett Moffitt of GMS Racing after starting in second place. Moffitt, meanwhile, started the race from the pole position in his #24 Chevrolet. Kyle Busch Motorsports rookie Harrison Burton was the highest finishing Toyota driver of the race. He finished in third in his #18 Toyota.

ThorSport Racing teammates rounded out the top six to give the team four of the top six positions, as Grant Enfinger, Matt Crafton and Ben Rhodes finished in fourth, fifth and sixth place in their #98 Ford, #88 Ford and #99 Ford, respectively.

Hill ended up finishing in seventh place in his #16 Toyota. Bill McAnally Racing’s Derek Kraus, DGR Crosley’s Tyler Ankrum and Niece Motorsports’ Ross Chastain rounded out the top 10 by finishing in eighth, ninth and 10th in their #19 Toyota, #17 Toyota and #45 Chevrolet, respectively.

The race featured a total of 11 lead changes among six drivers. Aside of Sauter, who led 43 laps, five drivers led at least one lap of the race. Moffitt led more laps than anybody else in the field with 82 laps led. Burton, Enfinger, Rhodes and GMS Racing rookie Sheldon Creed all led at least one lap of the race as well.

Creed, who led 59 laps, was taken out of contention for the race victory in a late wreck. Moffitt won stage one while won Sauter stage two.

The race featured a total of six caution flag periods for 35 laps. Of these six caution flag periods, four took place as a result of on-track incidents while two took place as a result of the usual endings of stages one and two. Of the 32 drivers who started the race, 26 finished it. Of the 26 drivers who finished the race, 15 finished it on the lead lap.
