NASCAR Truck Series: Will Kyle Busch earn his sixth consecutive victory?
By Asher Fair
Kyle Busch has won each of the last five NASCAR Truck Series races in which he has competed. Will he earn his sixth consecutive victory this Friday night?
Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Kyle Busch is set to make his fifth and final NASCAR Truck Series start of the 2019 season in this Friday night’s North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The driver of the #51 Toyota competed in the season’s second, third, fourth and fifth races at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Martinsville Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway, respectively, before sitting out the next two races.
Busch won all four of these races, and he even won last season’s July race at Pocono Raceway, which marked his final start of the 2018 season. As a result, he is set to enter this Friday night’s 133-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Charlotte Motor Speedway oval in Concord, North Carolina on a five-race winning streak.

Will the 34-year-old Las Vegas, Nevada native earn what would be his sixth consecutive Truck Series race by winning this race and thus ending this season five for five in his Truck Series starts?
It would be easy to keep this analysis short and sweet with a simple “Busch is the clear favorite to win the North Carolina Education Lottery 200”, which is 100% true. But let’s take a look at Busch’s history at the track and his Truck Series history in general to illustrate why he should be able to get the job done and earn his sixth consecutive Truck Series victory in this race.
Busch has competed in 12 Truck Series races at Charlotte Motor Speedway. In these 12 races, he has finished outside of the top two just twice. Of his 10 top two finishes at the track, seven are victories. His average finish there is an impressive 2.67, and he hasn’t finished outside of the top two there since he finished in eighth place in the May race at the track back in the 2008 season.
Busch could be on the coldest streak of his Truck Series career and still be the favorite to win at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He just happens to be on the third five-race winning streak of his Truck Series career, and he happens to be extending his all-time Truck Series wins record, which is now at 55, in every race that he starts.
The first of these two five-race winning streaks ended with Busch finishing in second place in the November race at ISM Raceway in the 2009 season. The second of these two streaks became a six-race winning streak when Busch won the June race at Kentucky Speedway in the 2014 season.
More than likely, Busch will be heading into his Truck Series offseason this Friday night on the second six-race winning streak of his career.
Fox Sports 1’s live broadcast of the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 from Charlotte Motor Speedway is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. ET on Friday, May 17. Be sure not to miss Kyle Busch’s fifth and final NASCAR Truck Series start of the 2019 season.
