IndyCar Driver Power Rankings after 2019 Indianapolis 500
By Asher Fair
Following Simon Pagenaud’s victory and the rest of the action during the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500, how do the IndyCar Driver Power Rankings look?
After becoming the fifth different driver to win a race through the first five races of the 17-race 2019 IndyCar season, Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud entered the season’s crown jewel race, the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the most recent winner.
Pagenaud proceeded to become the first driver to win two races this season by winning this year’s running of the 200-lap “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval in Speedway, Indiana in his #22 Chevrolet.
Pagenaud also became the second driver in a row and of all-time to sweep the month of May at the Brickyard, as he also won the IndyCar Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course just over two weeks ago. Teammate Will Power pulled off this feat last year, and he, too, entered the month of May without winning any races earlier in the season before he pulled it off.
