With three races remaining in the 2018-2019 Formula E season, eight of the 11 teams are still mathematically eligible to win the team championship.

Just three of the 13 races on the 2018-2019 Formula E schedule have not yet been contested following the season’s 10th race, the Berlin ePrix, at Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit.

Following the conclusion of this race, teams were mathematically eliminated from championship contention for the first time this season.

A maximum total of 47 points (25 for winning the race, 18 for finishing in second place, three for taking the pole position and one for recording the fastest lap time) are on the table for each team in each race.

As a result, all teams not within 141 points of the leaders of the team standings have been eliminated from championship contention.

Of the sport’s 11 teams, eight (seven not including the leaders) are within 141 points of the leaders, which are DS Techeetah. DS Techeetah teammates Jean-Eric Vergne and Andre Lotterer have delivered the team 102 points and 86 points, respectively, so far this season giving them a total of 188 points. The other seven teams in the top eight in the team standings currently sit within 114 points of DS Techeetah.

Here are the current top eight in the team standings following the 2019 Berlin ePrix at Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit.

Rank – Team, Manufacturer: Points (Behind)
1st – DS Techeetah, Spark-DS Automobiles: 188 (0)
2nd – Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler, Spark-Audi: 163 (-25)
3rd – Envision Virgin Racing, Spark-Audi: 137 (-51)
4th – Nissan e.dams, Spark-Nissan: 124 (-64)
5th – Mahindra Racing, Spark-Mahindra: 117 (-71)
6th – BMW i Andretti Motorsport, Spark-BMW: 106 (-82)
7th – Venturi, Spark-Venturi: 84 (-104)
8th – Panasonic Jaguar Racing, Spark-Jaguar: 74 (-114)

HWA Racelab, Geox Dragon Racing and NIO currently sit in ninth, 10th and 11th place with 38 points, 13 points and six points, respectively.

All three of these teams entered the Berlin ePrix still having a slight chance to win this year’s championship, but HWA Racelab now trail DS Techeetah by 150 points while Geox Dragon Racing trail them by 175 points and NIO trail them by 182, meaning that there is no mathematical way by which any of them can win this year’s team championship.

While eight of Formula E‘s 11 teams are still mathematically eligible to win the 2018-2019 championship, only a few of them have even a decent chance to pull it off. Which team will ultimately be crowned champions once the season finale, the second race of the New York City ePrix, takes place in mid-July?

The Bern ePrix, which is scheduled to take place this Saturday, June 22, is the next race on the Formula E schedule. It is set to be held at Bern Street Circuit in Bern, Switzerland.
