Driver standings leader Jean-Eric Vergne finished New York City ePrix Race 1 in 15th place, marking his lowest finish in the last nine races, but he did not drop in the formulated Formula E Driver Power Rankings.
A lot of this has to do with the fact that his average finish in the last five races only dropped by 0.20 from 5.00 to 5.20, as his 15th place finish in this race replaced his 14th place finish in the Rome ePrix in the calculation for this average.
Meanwhile, the other three drivers who are still eligible to win the 2018-2019 championship heading into the season finale all entered New York City ePrix Race 1 in the top four in the formulated Formula E Driver Power Rankings as well despite the fact that one of them, Sebastien Buemi, was down in seventh place in the driver standings.
These four drivers are still in the top four in the formulated Formula E Driver Power Rankings. Buemi jumped from fourth to second in these rankings after winning this race while Mitch Evans dropped from second to third after finishing in third place and Lucas di Grassi dropped from third to fourth after finishing in fifth.
The New York City ePrix Race 2 is the next race on the 2018-2019 Formula E schedule. This race, which is the 13th of 13 races on this season’s schedule, is scheduled to take place at Brooklyn Street Circuit in in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York on Sunday, July 14, and it is set to be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET. It is scheduled to begin shortly thereafter at 4:00 p.m. ET.
