Justin Allgaier is still winless in the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series after setting a new career-high in wins last year. When will he win a race this year?

The 2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series season of Justin Allgaier ended in disappointment when he failed to advance to the Championship 4 at Homestead-Miami Speedway and finished in seventh place in the championship standings.

The Spaulding, Illinois native entered the 33-race 2018 season with five career Xfinity Series victories in 240 starts, and over the course of the season, he doubled his career win total and set a new career-high win total for a single season with five victories, a total that trailed only that of Joe Gibbs Racing rookie Christopher Bell, who won seven races.

But one season removed from his career year, Allgaier is still searching for victory lane. In fact, going back to last season, he is on a 26-race win drought, something he has not been on since before he earned his first victory of the 2017 season at ISM Raceway in March of 2017.

When will he win a race for the first time in the 2019 season?

With all things considered, he shouldn’t have to wait much longer, and while his win drought is significantly long given his recent history, it is nothing to panic about.

Just 18 of the season’s 33 races have been completed, and at this point last season, he had only earned two of his five victories. He won the races at Dover International Speedway and Iowa Speedway. He went on to finish in second place in the season’s second race at Iowa Speedway and third in the season’s second race at Dover International Speedway last year.

In the races that have been held at Dover International Speedway and Iowa Speedway this season, he finished in second and third place, respectively, so it’s not like he is missing much, if anything at all, from last season. The season’s second race at Iowa Speedway is scheduled to take place this evening.

Allgaier currently sits in fourth place in the championship standings as the highest driver who is not a member of the “Big 3”, the three drivers who have combined to win 13 of the season’s first 18 races, so he is clearly not lacking in overall performance. He has recorded eight top five finishes and 10 top 10 finishes so far this year.

Last season, Allgaier was dominant in the road course races. He finished in third place in the race at Watkins Glen International before going on to win the races at Road America and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

All three of those races are scheduled to take place in August, so even if he doesn’t win tonight at Iowa Speedway, don’t expect him to enter September without having earned at least one victory this season.
