NASCAR Cup Series Power Rankings after 2019 Go Bowling at The Glen
By Asher Fair
Formulated NASCAR Cup Series Driver Power Rankings Analysis
Chase Elliott broke a seven-race drought during which he failed to finish in the top 10 and recorded an average finishing position of an abysmal 26.43 by winning the Go Bowling at The Glen at Watkins Glen.
Unfortunately for him, he only moved up one position in the formulated NASCAR Cup Series Driver Power Rankings. His victory in this race happened to replace his best finish during this seven-race drought, his 11th place finish in the race at Chicagoland Speedway, so his average finish in the last five races of 25.60 only dropped by 2.00 to 23.60.
Meanwhile, all four Joe Gibbs Racing drivers are now in the top four in these power rankings. Their average finishes in the last five races all rank in the top four in the series right now, with Erik Jones leading the way at 7.00, Denny Hamlin in second place at 7.40, Kyle Busch in third at 8.80 and Martin Truex Jr. in fourth at 10.40, although Truex Jr. is tied with Matt DiBenedetto, who drives for the Joe Gibbs Racing-affiliated Leavine Family Racing.
