4. McLaren
McLaren have established themselves as the clear “best of the rest” team in Formula 1, and with the strength of their car coupled with the talent of their two young drivers, they are poised for their best result in the constructor standings since they finished in third place in the 2012 season.
Toro Rosso sit in fifth place in the constructor standings behind McLaren, but the Woking-based team have scored nearly twice the amount of points that they have (82 to 43), and this is the case despite the fact that the Faenza-based team earned 23 points in a single race.
If the top three teams in Formula 1 are in tier one, McLaren belong in tier two on their own ahead of “the rest”. The strides that they have made in their second year using Renault engines have been exceptional, and Carlos Sainz Jr. and rookie Lando Norris have capitalized on every ounce of those strides.
3. Scuderia Ferrari
Scuderia Ferrari have effectively taken the opportunities that they have been given throughout the first 12 races of the 2019 season and launched them into the deep blue sea, never to be seen again.
Their season has always seemed like it can’t get any worse. But then, once again, it does, and then you’re left wondering why the heck you actually thought it couldn’t get any worse because of the new ways they find to squander golden opportunities on seemingly a weekly basis.
Ferrari have not been victorious yet this season despite the fact that they have had a car that has been more than capable of competing at the front and winning several races. With all things considered, Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc should both have earned at least one victory this year.
But the Italian team are ranked this low in these rankings because they have recently not only been beaten but schooled by the two teams with which they have combined to win the last 130 races going back to the start of the 2013 season.
