For the first time, Charles Leclerc is a Formula 1 race winner. How did the Belgian Grand Prix affect the Formula 1 Driver Power Rankings?

In his 34th career Formula 1 start and his 13th start at Scuderia Ferrari, Charles Leclerc secured his first victory in the Belgian Grand Prix to cap off a dominant yet emotional weekend at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

How did Leclerc’s maiden victory in this 44-lap race around the 19-turn, 4.352-mile (7.004-kilometer) Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps road course in Stavelot, Belgium affect the Formula 1 Power Rankings?

These Formula 1 Driver Power Rankings were calculated using a formula, which you can see here. But before they are revealed, take a look below at some of the highlights of this edition of these rankings.

Formula 1 Driver Power Rankings Analysis

Charles Leclerc’s maiden victory was not enough to propel him up these rankings, but that is only because of the fact that his 17th place finish (retirement) in the German Grand Prix sinks his average finish in the last five races.

Even including this disappointing result, his average finish in the last seven races is an impressive 4.71. Excluding this result, his average finish during this same span would be 2.67 with five podium finishes in six races.

That said, Leclerc certainly tightened things up at the top of these rankings, although it goes without saying that Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport’s Lewis Hamilton is running away with the #1 spot. Following Leclerc’s victory, you can pretty much throw a blanket over #2 through #5.

Meanwhile, rookie Alexander Albon overcame a poor starting position and a rocky start to shine in his first race driving for Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. After starting in 17th place and spending much of the race looking like he wouldn’t even score points with a top 10 finish, he finished in fifth.

As a result, he made what was tied for the biggest move up the rankings this week. His move was tied with that of SportPesa Racing Point’s Sergio Perez, the driver he passed for fifth place on the final lap.

Now let’s get started with the rankings.
