On its way to Kansas Speedway for this Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR Xfinity Series playoff race, the Kaulig Racing hauler was involved in an accident.

The Kansas Lottery 300 is the fourth of seven races on the three-round 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series playoff schedule, and it is the opening race of the second round, the round of 8.

This race, the first race since the race at Dover International Speedway two Saturdays ago, is scheduled to take place at Kansas Speedway this Saturday, October 19.

But on its way to the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Kansas Speedway oval in Kansas City, Kansas for this 200-lap race, the Kaulig Racing hauler for their #10 team was involved in an accident while traveling westbound on I-40 in McDowell County, North Carolina.

Two people, the driver and a passenger, were taken to nearby Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina with what were described as serious but non-life-threatening. They were both reported as being alert and awaiting further evaluation.

According to Fox Carolina, troopers say the hauler “traveled off the right side of the roadway and crashed through the guardrail on the shoulder. It then went down an embankment and overturned before coming to a stop in a wooded area.”

As of now, the crash remains  under investigation by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Kaulig Racing released a statement about the matter on Twitter.

Part-time driver Ross Chastain, who Kaulig Racing just confirmed as the full-time driver of the #10 Chevrolet in the 2020 season, is set to drive the #10 Chevrolet in the Kansas Lottery 300. Full-time driver Justin Haley is also set to drive for the team in this race, as he drives the #11 Chevrolet.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the two hospitalized individuals who were a part of this crash as they are hopefully not faced with anything more than short and simple recovery periods.
