Martin Truex Jr. is headed to the Championship 4 for the third consecutive season. Where do he and the rest of the drivers stack up in the NASCAR Cup Series Driver Power Rankings?

The first driver to win a race in the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs became the first driver to clinch a spot in the Championship 4, as Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. opened up the round of eight of the four-round, 10-race playoffs with a dominant victory in the First Data 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

How did Truex’s victory in this drama-filled 500-lap race around the four-turn, 0.526-mile (0.847-kilometer) Martinsville Speedway oval in Ridgeway, Virginia affect the NASCAR Cup Series Power Rankings?

These NASCAR Cup Series Driver Power Rankings were calculated using a formula, which you can see here. But before they are revealed, take a look below at some of the highlights of this edition of these rankings.

NASCAR Cup Series Driver Power Rankings Analysis

While they aren’t the top three drivers in the playoff picture following the First Data 500, the top three drivers in these formulated NASCAR Cup Series Driver Power Rankings following this race really don’t need much justification.

The third place driver has just one finish outside of the top nine in the last nine races. The second place driver has three wins and only one finish outside of the top seven in the last seven races. Finally, the leader has just one finish outside of the top five in the last six races.

All three drivers finished in the top seven at Martinsville Speedway, although only two of the three are above the Championship 4 cut line with races at Texas Motor Speedway and ISM Raceway remaining before the Championship 4 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Now let’s get started with the rankings.
