Kurt Busch

When I heard that Kurt Busch was heading to Chip Ganassi Racing in 2019, I was thinking that this could be the beginning of the end for the him; maybe a few top 10 finishes, but not competitive enough for wins.

Additionally, the elder Busch was paired with an inexperienced crew chief in Matt McCall. 2019 could’ve been a wasted season for the veteran.

Boy was I surprised.

First off, he won at Kentucky. He had never been a contender to win in the Bluegrass State since the Cup Series began racing there, so getting the win the was surprising in and of itself.

He tallied 18 top 10 finishes and three stage wins throughout. Busch totaled 1,015 fantasy points, finishing 10th overall. This is actually surprising because it was kind of up and down year for him, and he ended up barely missing the round of 12.

This season was also somewhat of a resurgence for Busch. 2019 kind of took me back to his Team Penske days: getting wins and top 10 finishes and being good enough to go far into the playoffs.

Here’s to hoping Busch will be little more consistent and repeat the positives he had in 2019 next year and get more wins so I can add him to my roster.
