NASCAR: 5 drivers who could get their first career wins in 2020
Christopher Bell
Going into the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season, Christopher Bell will have zero Cup Series experience. Bell did not have the luxury of running a few races last year to prepare him for his rookie Cup Series campaign this year.
When the cars get on the track at Daytona International Speedway, that will mark the first time Bell officially drives a Cup car.
With that, Bell enters the season in a heated Rookie of the Year battle with Cole Custer and Tyler Reddick. What were the “Big 3” in the Xfinity Series have all moved to the Cup level together, and that will provide even more competition for Bell.
Over the last two seasons in the Xfinity Series, Bell amassed a total of 15 wins in 66 races, including a series-high and rookie record seven in 2018 and a series-high eight in 2019. Nobody else won more than eight during these two years combined.
Even though Bell was not able to capture an Xfinity Series championship in those two seasons, all those wins are hard to look past, and Bell will look to be a threat in the #95 Toyota for Leavine Family Racing, as the team will be fully supported with Joe Gibbs Raceway equipment with even more funding than they had last year when Matt DiBenedetto almost took them to victory lane at Bristol Motor Speedway.
A few tracks at which Bell could score his first win are Phoenix Raceway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Dover International Speedway, Richmond Raceway and Bristol Motor Speedway. Those are all tracks at which Bell won and had sustained success in the Xfinity Series.
