Kyle Busch interview

Part 1 – M&M’S

Beyond the Flag (BTF): Kyle, thank you very much for your time today. With you running a brand new M&M’s paint scheme in Atlanta next weekend, do you keep track of how many different schemes you’ve run for M&M’s throughout your career? If so, what number are you at now?

Kyle Busch: We’re excited to have a brand new M&M’S Messages paint scheme in Atlanta. M&M’S Messages are in store now with packages displaying 36 different messages that consumers can share with their friends and family, including expressions like, “You Make Mama Proud” and “Emotional Support Candy.”

M&M’S has been a fantastic partner for us. I have no idea how many we’ve featured so far, but I’m hoping we can get them to victory lane at Atlanta and Homestead. As far as schemes, I have had a lot of great ones having a company like Mars sponsor us. I have some schemes I like better than others, but there’s been so many fun ones over the years.

BTF: How did your partnership with M&M’s get started? What aspects of it have made it so successful and allowed it to develop into what it has become today as one of the sport’s long-time partnerships?

Busch: Back in 2007 I was looking for a new team for 2008 and felt like Joe Gibbs Racing was my best chance to be successful long term. Mars and M&M’S were also looking for a new team during that same time, so it made a lot of sense to join up together at Joe Gibbs Racing. They wanted to win races and I wanted to win and we’ve been very successful together. This is our 13th year together and we’ve really been even more successful than we could have hoped for. We’ve won two championships and 52 races since I’ve joined JGR and I hope we have a lot more trips to victory lane in the future, that’s what it’s all about.
