There are so many races each year that are held in the United States, but a few of them are more significant than others. Which races are the most significant to win?

There are so many different styles of racing in the United States, and over the course of a year, there are many big races that we all look forward to watching. But there are a select few that mean a bit more to win over the other races throughout the year.

Here are the top five.

5. Chevrolet Performance NHRA U.S. Nationals

The biggest NHRA drag race of the year is the Chevrolet Performance NHRA U.S. Nationals. The U.S. Nationals has been the crown jewel of NHRA drag racing since 1955. When the race was first run, it took place in Kansas.

In 1958, it was moved to Oklahoma City, and then from 1959 to 1960, it was held in Detroit. In 1961, the race moved locations once again, this time to Indianapolis, where it has stayed ever since.

The U.S. Nationals is known as the biggest and most prestigious NHRA drag racing event on the calendar due to the amount of history, the size of the event and the fact that it also has the biggest purse of any NHRA race throughout the year. It is the race that always closes out the NHRA regular season on Labor Day weekend.

With the NHRA being the biggest drag racing association in the world, the U.S. Nationals is definitely the biggest and most coveted drag racing event to win.
