4. United States Grand Prix

This race may not have the history like the other races on this list, but the significance of just the name “United States Grand Prix” has tons of history. With Formula 1 being one of the most popular racing series if not the most popular racing series in the world, it is definitely a big deal to win this race.

The United States Grand Prix was first held at Circuit of the Americas in 2012. It has always had huge crowds each year. Formula 1 gained a very large following in the United States throughout the 1960s and 1970s thanks to the success of the United States Grand Prix, which was held at Watkins Glen International at the time.

Since then, the United States Grand Prix has been held at two other tracks aside of Circuit of the Americas: Phoenix Grand Prix Circuit (1989 to 1991) and Indianapolis Motor Speedway (2000 to 2007).

There have been other Formula 1 races in the United States over the years, but these are the tracks at which the race officially titled the United States Grand Prix has taken place.

But after 2007, there were no races in the United States until the 20-turn, 3.427-mile (5.515-kilometer) Circuit of the Americas road course in Austin, Texas opened eight years ago.

Attendance numbers at the United States Grand Prix have been massive since Formula 1 has been racing there, with well over 220,000 fans having been on hand for race weekend on several occasions.

This race is one of the more popular Formula 1 races on the calendar as well. Given its recent success, it’s hard to see Formula 1 not having a race in the states again any time soon, even after its current contract with Circuit of the Americas expires in 2021.
